PUSH | LGBT Community Center

The proposal for San Francisco’s Lesbian Gay Bisexual Transgender Community Center pushes the most critical and political elements of the Center’s programs toward the street in order to express the diverse functions, activities, and cultures it houses. The vocabulary of the glass enclosure translates the rhythms and modulations of the existing Victorian structure. The building transitions from hidden to revealed, ‘sheds its skin’, to disclose a dynamic and fluid assembly of interior spaces.
